Departing from a vibrant port city like Seattle presents a chance to explore, if budget and time allow. We spent a couple of days visiting the iconic sights of Seattle before the cruise. We brought everything we needed for this part of the trip in our carry-on luggage to avoid unpacking and repacking our cruise luggage.
Our Airbnb was located on Western Avenue, near the Four Seasons, with a great view of the waterfront. This was a great location, as it's only steps away from the Seattle Aquarium, the Great Wheel, Miner's Landing, Post Alley, Pike's Place Market, Pike's Brewery, the original Starbucks and so much more.
Pike's Place Market
It would take hours to catalog all the items to be found in this world-famous market. We especially enjoyed the extensive selection of fresh flowers. We took a bouquet on the cruise and it lasted the entire voyage.
I visited Il Bistro near Pike's Place on my first trip to Seattle over 20 years ago. I would still strongly recommend it today.
Chihuly Garden and Glass
We visited the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit that sits at the base of the Space Needle. The artwork is incredible, we would definitely recommend.
Culinary Treats
Noi Thai serves delicious food just South of Pike Place. I dare you to order your meal 'Thai hot'!
While it's not native to Seattle, Din Tai Fung is always a treat. As it was my partner's first experience, we sampled many items on the menu, including the world-famous soup dumplings.
